The Exhibition is organized in co-operation with Croatian Association of Artists HDLU, Artists' Association MUU, Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and Croatian Embassy in Finland, and it will present works of eight artists: Tina Gverovic, Sonja Gasperov, Alem Korkut, Vedran Perkov, Viktor Popovic, Marko Tadic, Ivan Tomasovic and Iva Vranekovic. The analysis of formal, status and generational indicators inspired by Gordana Bralić's selection is eventually determined by the level of performance of her more specific task of a curator to create an exhibition that should, in a given context, successfully present the strength and vitality of Croatian contemporary visual arts to the Finnish audience. In the works of no more than eight young artists the high level of quality and diversity is obvious, which makes the visual arts of the nation with a population of only 4.5 million the most convincing and internationally, most exposed segment of its cultural production, as well as a noticeable regional power and the ever more present international phenomenon. Pars pro toto.“ Branko Franceschi „…The very choice of this exhibition's character, as well as of the profile of artists, was made under the exceptionally strong influence of simplicity and sincerity of the Finnish approach to modern art that can be experienced everywhere. In creating the exhibition, we were also led by the idea of simplicity that in each author resulted in a different resonance. But the Croatian artists presented by this exhibition have different media of expression. We set sincerity and the quality of artworks and performances as our primary, initial criterion. To experiment, we decided to introduce the visible personal qualities of the artist and the simplicity of the author's poetics as the crucial criterion for the selection. Interweaving, freedom from frustration and witiness in the works by Vedran Perkov and Sonja Gašperov, intimacy and nostalgia of Viktor Popović and Tina Gverović, young painter Ivan Tomasović's exceptional painting qualities, Marko Tadić's ludism, Iva Vraneković's playfulness in the use of ready-mades in the construction of a new space and Alem Korkut's unorthodox minimalist sculptural work - in all this we above all tried not to lose the artistic quality from sight, and this is why we think that we successfully integrated a respectable and very interesting selection of the young Croatian art scene…“ Gordana Bralić _________________ Curator: Gordana Bralić Co-ordinator: Ana Barbić Katičić The Exhibition is supported by:
