Open: Tue – Fri 12-17, Sat – Sun 12-16

image: Katarina Elvira Gudrunsdotter

Katarina Elvira Gudrunsdotter creates temporary experimental installations that explore the existential issues of our time. Examining layers of consciousness through matter, rhythm and movement, the works invite the viewer to participate in a spatial event that reflects on the state of the world.

Katarina Elvira Gudrunsdotter’s creative work is inspired by poetry, psychology, philosophy, mysticism and natural elements. She uses everything from traditional artistic materials to objects found on her daily walks. The materials embody a history characterised by the forces of nature or manual craft.

Opening ceremony on Friday, 5 April 2019, from 17:00–19:00. Welcome!

MUU Studio
Lönnrotinkatu 33, Helsinki
Open: Tue – Fri 12-17, Sat – Sun 12-16

kuva : Jakob Johannsen

The exhibition work ‘Waves’ affiliates Jakob Johannsen’s body of work on digital images in the expanded field to the analog photography. Johannsen’s interest lays in photography, that implements a media reflexive approach or deals with socio political relations in his everyday life. After working with photographic media through an abstract approach and with different hand craft materials, Johannsen see’s himself drawn back to photographic practice as the main material for his works. His focus in current projects lays on the photographic gaze and the reflection of image in a wider sense. The work ‘Waves’ is dealing with screen based technical inventions with influence on everyday life, which are always more visible to older generations, than to the ones who grew up with the media as their natural environment.

Opening of the exhibition on Friday 5 April 2019, from 5pm–7pm. Welcome!

Cinema as Instrument was a workshop organised by Artists’ Association MUU that explored a new perspective on the relationship between video visuals and its soundtrack. In the one-week workshop, participants created new multi-channel audio tracks for their videos. The resulting works function both as videos and as independent audio artworks. Spatial sound offers all kinds of exciting possibilities for the production of audio plays, audio artworks as well as experimental music.
