An artist’s identity is no longer linked to just one medium. All sorts of artforms are crossing into each other’s territory and artists are collaborating across boundaries. In addition to themes, a dialogical approach calls attention also to the interface between different practices. Alongside performances representing multiple disciplines of art, the festival will offer nourishment for body and soul as well. The festival stage will feature talks and discussions on art and life, while festival beer as well as brunch will be available at Kallio Artisan Brewery’s AFS Bar and at Rupla Café. The Finnish art scene will be enriched by round-table talks with professional artists, curators and organiser exchanging views and viewpoints.

Festival focus: Russia. The list of international guests at this year’s Art Fair Suomi gives pride of place to Russia. Artist-run organisations, curators and artists from St Petersburg and Moscow will be prominent both in the events programme and in the art on display. Four exhibition stands will showcase contemporary Russian art and photography, on Sunday the festival stage will hosts an appearance by FotoDepartament gallery from St Petersburg who will talk about memory and an expanded perspective on Russian photography; additionally videos by female artists of the Cyland MediaArtLab will be screened daily.
