MUU – EXHIBITIONS APPLICATIONS FOR AUTUMN 2019

The application deadline to have an exhibition at MUU’s gallery spaces is Sunday 15 April 2018.

MUU’s gallery spaces are MUU Gallery & MUU Studio (Lönnrotinkatu 33, Helsinki) and MUU Cable in Cable Factory (Tallberginkatu 1 C, Helsinki).

 

You can apply for MUU Gallery and / or MUU Studio and / or for MUU Cable.

Exhibition committee

The exhibition selection is chaired by an exhibition team appointed by the association’s board. In the year 2018 the exhibition committee includes MUU’s member artists Helinä Hukkataival, Liisa Kanerva, Leevi Lehtinen, Elsa Trzaska and director Timo Soppela.

International curators are also participating in the exhibition choices. This spring Spanish curator Pau Waelder participates the selection work. He stays in Helsinki in April as part of MUU’s visitor programme and will have a discussion at The Finnish Museum of Photography during his stay. His visit is supported by Acción Cultural Española. The autumn of 2016, curator Xavier Acar took part in the selection work, and in the spring 2017, curator Basak Senova was present. Curator visits allow cooperation with HIAP, Frame and the Academy of Fine Arts.

MUU GALLERY – MUU STUDIO

MUU Gallery and MUU Studio have extensive AV-exhibition equipment, and the exhibitions for these premises are focused on video and media art.

MUU exhibition space at Lönnrotinkatu has total area of 91 m2. The MUU Gallery is 75 m2. Separated by darkener MUU Studio is suitable for example for video and sound works.

AV-EQUIPMENT

Without  additional compensation the exhibition organizer in MUU Gallery and MUU Studio will have wide range of audiovisual technology. Currently, the hardware includes (gallery and studio exhibitions total) 4 Epson EB-G5450WU Full HD cannons, 2 46-inch NEC LCD monitors, 1 screen in the studio, DVD and Bluray players, HD media players (Asus O! Play : MiniPlus 2, Mini 6, HD2 4) and Genelec audio equipment.

MUU’s partners in the exhibition activity are Pro AV Art Oy and Genelec.

COMMISSION FEE

6 week period, includes construction time

(The space may also be granted for another length of time,
length of exhibition period is decided by the exhibition team)

In addition to the exhibition fee, the artist will be charged a share of the mailing of invitations (about 600) according to the mailing list of MUU ry. Depending on the number of exhibitors (2 or 3), the price per artist is about 100-150 euros. MUU staff manages postal service. A technician will help with the AV equipment during mounting of the exhibition.

MUU CABLE (CABLE FACTORY)

MUU Cable exhibitions consists of other forms of visual art: installations, show- and performance art, international art and projects carried out in cooperation with other organizations. MUU CABLE GROUND PLAN

In addition to space and monitoring, the exhibition fee includes design and printing of invitation cards and posters, online information, press releases, translating the press material (into English, Swedish and Finnish) and managing postal service of the press releases and invitations.


SUPERVISION OF MUU CABLE
The Cable Factory and Rosebud Bookshop are partners in the MUU Cable Showroom. The MUU Cable is supervisioned by the bookstore staff.

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATIONS

The application should identify the nature of the proposed project or exhibition and information on the applicant’s past activities. Image material in paper and / or digital format. Application sent by mail: compose the material of the application file to one size A4 folder, and also fill in the application form for your application and print it with along other material!
