Kunstplass, an artist-driven venue for contemporary art in Oslo, Norway, organises a three-day Protest Factory event on 8-10 March 2018. The event consists of three different parts; Thursday’s International Women’s Day celebration, Protest Factory exhibition openings on Friday and a panel discussion on Saturday. Protest Factory is a part of the HUMAN international film festival (7.-13.3.2018).

Performance Voyage 7 collection will stay as an exhibition at Kunstplass until 8th April.

Protest Factory is inspired by the HUMAN film festival’s theme Human Rights, Human Wrongs; Ibsen Women; and #Metoo, and it is a revolt and protest against all the world’s brutal wars and conflicts, global warming, racism, xenophobia and homophobia.

The Women’s Day celebration on Thursday includes performances by Norwegian actor June Dahr, known internationally for interpretations of Ibsen’s production, performance artist and poet Timimie Märak, spoken-word artist Jeaninne Masika Lukusa and Finnish artist Kikka Rytkönen from the PV7 collection. The evening is dedicated to women who have worked for equality whole their lives.

At the openings of Protest Factory exhibition on Friday will be seen My Zeitgeist Hurts by Siri Hjorth and Sebastian Makonnen Kjølaas and Performance Voyage 7 collection. Performances by Siri Hjorth, Kikka Rytkönen and Heidi Kilpeläinen will vitalize the evening. Performance Voyage 7 will be presented by director of MUU, Timo Soppela.  On Saturday at noon there is a possibility to meet the PV7 artists and the director of MUU and the panel-discussion about performance art is open to participation.

Kunstplass, runned by Vibeke Hermanrud and Henriette Stensdal, has presented numberous Norwegian and international artists with a variety of artistic expressions since it was established in 2012. The gallery organises shorter events including performances, seminars, film screenings and development of on site-specific art projects.
