Performance Voyage 7  spring tour starts in Photo film studio Medika, Zagreb

Performance Voyage 7 (PV7), an international collection of video performances produced by Artists’ Association MUU, Finland, will be screened at Photo film studio Medika, in Zagreb, Croatia in 20th January. The videos featured in Performance Voyage 7, with theme Protest Song Competition!, explore ao. the political situation and frustration.

Photo film studio Medika ( http://attack.hr/foto-filmski-studio-medika/?lang=en) is located in an old factory, AKC Medika, donated by City of Zagreb for cultural use. It is hosted by Autonomous Culture Centre – Attack! Photo film studio Medika is a gathering place for many members of subcultural and independent scene, artists and activists.

Photo film studio Medika is open for photo and video recording, editing, projections, rehearsals and performances of theater/dance performances, and various meetings of young film artists who are producing movies, music, videos, documentaries, etc.

The collection is pressented in Zagreb by PV7-artist, Arja Renell. Her work, Acts of Sorrow is a silent protest against the  environmental and social impacts of the Talvivaara / Terrafame nickel mine in Finland. The performance was born out of anger, frustration and sadness,  against those in power and responsible for the continued ecological destruction caused by the mining operations.

Performance Voyage 7 with the theme Protest Song Competition! includes works from 18 international artists / groups: Kuesti Fraun, Kim Dotty Hachmann & Steffi Simmen, Sasha Huber & Petri Saarikko, Heidi Kilpeläinen, Francois Knoetze, Timo Kokko, Paweł Korbus, Vik Laschenov, Elin Magnusson, Elena Mazzi, Iwona Ogrodzka, Ignacio Pérez Pérez, Arja Renell, Kikka Rytkönen, Julia Schicker, Jukka Silokunnas, Niko Skorpio and Elizabeth Wurst.

The videos comprising Performance Voyage 7 were selected through open call by a jury consisting of artist Heidi Kilpeläinen, Head of Arts & Culture, Finnish Institute in London Jaakko Nousiainen, and director of MUU Timo Soppela. The production of Performance Voyage 7 has been generously supported by the City of Helsinki, The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture.
