MUU Gallery presents: 10th Performance Voyage 7 Screening in Vilnius!

I want my revolution / nice and comfy”
                                           -Niko Skorpio

Performance Voyage 7 (PV7), an international collection of video performances produced by Artists’ Association MUU, Finland, will be screened at Vilnius, Lithuania 20 December 2017, in collaboration with The Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. The PV7 tour takes the video collection to altogether 15 venues around the world.

The theme of Performance Voyage 7 is Protest Song Competition! Protest songs typically reflect great social changes. The videos featured in Performance Voyage 7 explore the political situation, frustration and the individual’s possibilities to promote social change, and they also present alternatives to existing circumstances.

The PV7 collection is presented at Project Space Sodų 4 by Petri Saarikko, one of the collection’s artist.

Artists Sasha Huber and Petri Saarikko choreographed Rongoa Remedies during a residency in Wellington, New Zealand, much inspired by the local Maori culture, but also by the imminent threat of nature – earthquake and tsunami – against a city, which is located on the very edge of a potential disaster.

The collection contains works by 18 artists or groups from around the world: Kuesti Fraun, Kim Dotty Hachmann & Steffi Simmen, Sasha Huber & Petri Saarikko, Heidi Kilpeläinen, Francois Knoetze, Timo Kokko, Paweł Korbus, Vik Laschenov, Elin Magnusson, Elena Mazzi, Iwona Ogrodzka, Ignacio Pérez Pérez, Arja Renell, Kikka Rytkönen, Julia Schicker, Jukka Silokunnas, Niko Skorpio and Elizabeth Wurst.

The videos comprising Performance Voyage 7 were selected by a jury consisting of artist Heidi Kilpeläinen, Head of Arts & Culture Jaakko Nousiainen (Finnish Institute in London) and director of MUU Timo Soppela.

The production of Performance Voyage 7 has been supported by
the City of Helsinki Cultural Office, and
the Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture AVEK.

The Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association (LTMKS) is an artist-run organisation. The association unites both young and acclaimed artists who received the Lithuanian National Art and Culture Prize and other awards, and participated in the Venice Biennale and other prominent international and local exhibitions. It organizes and produces exhibitions, events, residencies, and publications, and represents artists in various socio-political situations.

Project Space Sodų 4, run by artist community from LTMKS, fills the gap of curated and artist-organised shows in Vilnius, Lithuania. It invites curators and artists for collaborations. It also aims to allocate a significant part of its program for international artists. The space also acts as a space for performances, screenings, workshops and other unexpected actions. www.letmekoo.lt/en
