Helmut Lemke (Germany)
Helmut Lemke has constructed time and place-bound sound installations and performances for over 25 years. He uses simple tools and materials in his works to challenge himself and the surroundings: his traveling kit consists of portable amplifiers, speakers and microphones. Helmut has worked at the Helsinki International Artist Programme residence for the winter and spring 2003.
Aapo Korkeaoja (Finland)
The third part of Korkeaoja's Aquario-trilogy, Technology, discusses the relationship between people and the ever growing technology culture surrounding them: the kind of aesthetic landscapes technology creates, how they can be adjusted, and where mankind stands on the hierarchical ladder of the endless evolution. The Aquario-trilogy is Korkeaoja's graduation work for the Turku art academy. The three parts, Society (in Turku, Titanik, May 5), Biology (in Pori art museum, May 12) and Technology, are very different takes of life. They are joined by the unusual infrastructure of the 2500-litre aquarium, built especially for these works.
Essi Kausalainen (Finland)
bloom by Essi Kausalainen is a solo performance of a woman: the myths and the reality. The performance takes a look between the woman of fairytales and the woman of reality, and at how beauty is physically experienced. Kausalainen is graduating from the Turku art academy, more precisely from the course Crossing borders in performing arts. The bloom premiere inTurku on May 8 is a part of her artistic graduation work. The Muu Monday/live performance will be adjusted to the gallery space.
