Jámon-Kinkkua!
- conceptual meeting of cultures
Live Art Scores from Finland and Spain
THE LINE
Draw a straight
line on the floor, more or less at the middle of the space and from
one wall
to
the opposite wall. Then, interacting with the audience, avoid the possibility
of the line
creating
any kind of division, border or limit.
-Hilario
Alvarez-
Jámon-Kinkkua! offers a new way of producing live art
and performance. Participating artists from Finland and Spain create
their performances based on each others' scores. The language of performance
art is constructed out of personal verbalizing, body language and the
use of objects. Here it is exchanged with the language of another artist
who comes from a different cultural background.
Jámon-Kinkkua! is a conceptual meeting of cultures. It
is an example of the images that one word can raise in minds from different
semiotic backgrounds. Spanish jámon is famous as tapas there
whereas Finnish kinkku is offered traditionally on Christmas Eve. (Both
words mean 'ham'.)
