MUU GALLERY has profiled itself as an uncommercial multiform stage for installations, video art, audio pieces and performance exhibitions. The gallery presents artists whose works have yet to be seen in mainstream galleries, but also acclaimed representatives of experimental art. The artistic course is determined by the choices made by the board of exhibition and the curators.

Muu Gallery offers a concrete opportunity for artists to be introduced, making it possible to encounter those local and international artists that won’t be seen elswhere due to their uncommercial nature. The repertoire is made alternative by the extreme and differing ways of conduct.

This type of activity is precious not only to the younger generation of artists but also to the marginal group of experienced artists. For the audience it is important to maintain a forum bringing forward art that is unbound to trends and economical constraints. For MUU, the gallery is an essential function, making the activity public, displayed through the gallery windows every day. The gallery has obtained its status as one of the most renowned venues, as well as a standard audience in the centre of Helsinki.

The exhibitions are chosen by the board based on open applications. Reservations can be applied for by artists, for their own exhibitions, or by curators, for an entity of several exhibitions. Applications for the following spring season (Jan 1–Jun 31) are made by March 31 and respectively by Sep 30 for the following fall season (Jul 1–Dec 31).
